Traditional Chinese Medicine's Yin-Yang Analysis of Male Constitution: How to Judge a Man's Energy and Personality Through His Appearance
Traditional Chinese medicine categorizes everything in the world into Yin and Yang, and the human body is no exception. Yang represents strong things like the sun, heat, and burning, while Yin represents weak things like the moon, cold, and coolness. Generally speaking, women have more Yin characteristics, while men have more Yang characteristics. However, some men have fair skin, are tall, have thick hair with gray hair, and tend to have Yin traits. A strong Yang trait is typically described as "a short, stout, stocky man with a ruddy complexion and a bald head."
Generally speaking, men with a short, stocky, and robust physique tend to have more energy. Incidentally, those who exercise regularly often have more muscle in their neck and limbs, and unlike those with long, slender necks and limbs, they often have a shorter, stockier appearance. In other words, men who diligently exercise tend to have more energy and vitality. We often believe that men with long faces and thin builds-that is, men with a feminine physique-are skilled in sexual techniques.
Their fingers are long and slender with delicate tips, and they possess a patient nature, which is likely why they excel in their sex lives. However, compared to men with a masculine constitution, they are less passionate, which might be considered a drawback for men with a feminine constitution in their sexual relationships. Nevertheless, men with a feminine constitution can strengthen their waist and legs and improve their vitality and energy through brisk walking, exercise, and other physical activities.
Studies have categorized people into two types: The short and stocky type – generally overweight, with a ruddy complexion, appearing strong, but actually quite indifferent to sex. The slender type – possessing excellent sexual skills. However, if slender men work on their muscles, they can add stamina and strength to their sexual techniques, making them arguably the best partners for women. Besides these, I will also introduce some points to consider when judging a man's energy and vitality based on the characteristics of various body parts.
We can conduct a physical constitution assessment based on specific characteristics. Regarding height, those with a positive constitution are typically of medium to short stature, those with a neutral constitution are of medium height, and those with a negative constitution are taller. In terms of muscles, those with a positive constitution are strong and firm, while those with a negative constitution are more flexible. Regarding posture, those with a positive constitution have an upright posture, while those with a negative constitution often have a hunched back. Regarding facial shape, those with a positive constitution tend to have round faces, while those with a negative constitution tend to have long faces. Regarding hair, those with a positive constitution tend to have sparse hair or even baldness, while those with a negative constitution have thick hair and are more prone to graying hair with age.
The neck features are also quite distinct: those with a yang constitution tend to have short, thick necks, while those with a yin constitution have long, slender necks. Regarding the eyes, those with a yang constitution often have small eyes, while those with double eyelids and large eyes are more common in those with a yin constitution. In terms of skin color, those with a yang constitution tend to have reddish to brownish skin, while those with a yin constitution have fair or even pale skin. As for the voice, those with a yang constitution have a deep, loud voice, while those with a yin constitution have a thin, hoarse voice. In terms of speech style, those with a yang constitution speak quickly and aggressively, while those with a yin constitution speak slowly and steadily. In terms of movement, those with a yang constitution move quickly and forcefully, while those with a yin constitution move slowly and weakly.
In terms of personality traits, those with a positive constitution are active, confident, optimistic, and cheerful; those with a negative constitution tend to be negative, gloomy, and pessimistic, but have good patience. Regarding body temperature, those with a positive constitution have higher temperatures, while those with a negative constitution have lower temperatures. In terms of pulse, those with a positive constitution have stronger pulses, while those with a negative constitution have weaker pulses. Blood pressure is also higher for those with a positive constitution and lower for those with a negative constitution. Regarding appetite, those with a positive constitution have a strong appetite, while those with a negative constitution have little appetite. Regarding stool characteristics, those with a positive constitution have thick and hard stools, while those with a negative constitution have softer or thinner stools and a tendency towards constipation. Regarding urine color, those with a positive constitution have concentrated urine, while those with a negative constitution have pale urine that is almost transparent.
The frequency of urination also varies; a positive result typically indicates 5 to 6 times per day, while a negative result may indicate more than 8 times or less than 4 times. Through these detailed observations, we can make a preliminary determination of a man's physical attributes. Next, we will further explore how to judge a person's health and vitality from more subtle aspects, such as the color of the palms, the condition of the eyelids, and the condition of the tongue.
